Illustrated Reviews

Movie Reviews in Pictures!  I wanted to see if I could review a movie by distilling it down to one illustration. Here's what happened:

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Seriously, I don't remember what it's about. But, Wes Anderson created a world that is so lush, so detailed, and so beautiful it is completely worth watching. (Especially if you have any inkling of becoming a costume designer.)

I'm glad I saw this movie, but it isn't one that I would like to see over and over. The most intriguing aspect is the world that's created with visuals including sets and props. Of course, I was especially interested in the clothing. Spoiler: in the future we all wear REALLY high pants.

American Hustle

American Hustle

Okay, maybe what I'm really responding to in movies is costuming. Because the clothing in this one is INCREDIBLE. (At one point Sydney Prosser wears a coat that is exactly like one my mother owned in the 70's. I was delighted.) I have a soft spot for clever films, and thought this was very entertaining.

Frances Ha Movie Illustrated

Frances Ha. Sigh....let's just say I wasn't a fan. I'm all for an unconventional movie, but I don't do well with highly annoying main characters.

What have you seen lately that you have enjoyed? Any suggestions for an illustrated review? Do tell! :)
