Fashion & Art at the Torpedo Factory The Torpedo Factory just finished an exhibit in the Main Hall called, "Ofrenda: Art for the Dead," which consisted of shrines, altars, paintings, and photography with the theme Dia De los Muertos (Day of the Dead). I stumbled upon it this past weekend and found the below piece quite fascinating:
I love observing how clothing is portrayed or created in artwork. The artist took pieces of newspaper and rolled them up to make the doll's dress.
A cage with birds was bellow the dress. When someone would walk by the sculpture it triggered an audio component that twittered. It added such an interesting nuance to the piece.
I found the overall effect to be both frightening and beautiful.
P.S. If anyone knows the name of the artist or piece of work please let me know! The exhibit was from a variety of artists, but I couldn't find a name next to this display.
