Favorite Thrifted Find from this Week

One of my favorite things to do is to go thrift shopping. I love it. There is something wonderful about finding an absolute gem in a thrift or vintage store. It feels like a fashion excavation trip! Here’s what I found this week:

It’s a cutie cute skirt from Ann Taylor Loft!

What first grabbed my eye was the pattern. It can go with so many different types of tops and can be paired with tights or leggings when it’s a bit chilly. It’s conservative enough to wear to the office, but interesting enough to go to to a restaurant when the work day ends. The best part? It was cheaper than a latte at Starbucks.

This little beauty will not stay with me. I am going to pass it on to someone I love beacause I think she will get SO much use out of it. Plus, it’s just exciting to give someone a little gift for no reason at all other than to say, “you are wonderful!”

Best of the Best Shopping Deals – June 29th

It’s Wednesday!

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about why people hate shopping so I wrote a blog article about it here. Online shopping is a great alternative in many respects. No lines, no crowds, and you can do it in your pj’s. One thing that makes online shopping easier is to find out your size in different brands. (Especially for women’s clothes where sizing is all over the board.) This means going to stores and trying things on. Which, of course, brings us back to why you may hate shopping in the first place. But, if you can set aside time once a year to go and try things on with the objective of figuring out your size in different labels it ultimately will save you time and money in returns and shopping mistakes. Give it a shot and see what happens!

Today I had a great shopping trip with a new client. For a couple of years I only worked in people’s homes on their wardrobes. I added personal shopping trips about a year and a half ago, and I’m so, so glad that I opened my business up to that service. It such fun and there is great element of surprise and whimsy to it. Remember that Betsey Johnson sample sale in NYC that I mentioned in a post last week? Well, the stars aligned and I was able to go to it! It was fantastic. The merch was organized, priced in a way that was easy to understand, in various sizes, and just darn cute to boot.
